What a great website, my Brooks family started at Milford then to Riddings to South Normanton to Blackwell where I was born and my mother still lives.

Excellent site. It has made my day. My great grandmother was Clara Brooks. She died in 1905 when my grandfather, James Rowland, was quite young so we knew little of his Aunts, Uncles and cousins on that side of the family. This has been so helpful. One of Clara's grand daughters is still alive so I will be telling her all about.
many thanks for all your research and hard work.

I am so happy that I have found this site. I have not been totally successful finding an earlier line of Brooks'. I am looking forward to perusing the information I will find. Thank you for all your work.

Hi,
This is an impressive site. I am doing some research on Christopher Hurworth and his wife Mary Ann Phillips who came to Queensland in 1874 with Mary's father Edward Phillips. There is a photo of Christopher Hurworth's house called "Richmond" and several obituaries and memorial notices about the Hurworths if you are interested.

The site is well laid out and I imagine informative. My family is Brooks but not included here. Originally from Milford about 1800 but by 1841 were in Somercotes and then South Normanton.

What a great site, very comprehensive and useful.I have become the family hstorian but only as an amateur.I really enjoy the "chase" and love it when all the clues joine together and make sense.I will keep looking at this site and see if I can find out more about the Brooks family.
My great grandmother was Gertrude Mary Brooks 1879 Crich, Derbyshire her parents William Brooks and Ellen Peach. The family ended up in Manchester after William Brooks died in 1892.I have very little photographs but do have a picture of Gertrude and her motehr Ellen Peach.I would love more photographs of the family especially Gertudes father William or her siblings.Best wishes and thanks for all your hard work.Christine.
